Youth Protection Training (YPT) is designed to help keep our youth safe.  It is required training for leaders, and must be renewed every 2 years.  We encourage every adult to complete this training so that we can all be aware of Scouting BSA Safety Guidelines and work together to keep everyone safe.  Troop 288 requires that all adults attending treks complete this training.

AB-506. As a Scouting volunteer, you understand the importance of keeping children safe.  A bill was passed by the State of California requiring volunteers of Youth Service Organizations to complete training in child abuse and neglect reporting and undergo Live Scan background checks.  AB-506 went into effect on January 1, 2022.

All registered BSA volunteer positions and employees including camp staff must comply with AB506. In addition, other volunteers who are 18 years of age or older and who have direct contact with, or supervision of, children for more than 16 hours a month or 32 hours per year must complete a Live Scan background check (the digital version of inked fingerprinting) and complete online mandated reporter training. All registered Scouting Adult volunteers need to complete the online training and Live Scan process.  For more details visit cascouting.org

You MUST bring the Live Scan Form specifically for Verdugo Hills Council, attached below.  On the link above, you will find a link to search where to get Live Scan service.

Please notify our Training Chair, Ms. Newgard, after completing the Mandated Reporting training by sending her a copy of your completion certificate.
